In consideration of the fact, that the e-mobility will play a major role in the near future, the challenge therefore will be to transfer the experience with today’s prototypes and test fleets to mass production. Especially electrical axle drives for hybrid - and electrical vehicles are in focus of the car manufacture nowadays. Because an electrical axle drive can be considered as a high dynamic torque source/sink, directly linked to the wheel, special attention is required in normal mode as well as in the failure mode operation. For the mass production it is also very important to have a good price to power ratio for an electrical axle drive, therefore the total vehicle system behaviour has to be considered in order to achieve the best power density in the available installation space related to the costs.
